Vietnam Australia School (VAS) is a premier provider of international bilingual education, serving almost 8,000 students across six modern campuses. As we broaden our Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) provision, we are seeking a dedicated Group Curriculum Coordinator to lead and develop our MFL curriculum across the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated curriculum leader to influence language learning across multiple sites, support teacher development, and contribute to the growth of high-quality bilingual and international language programmes in Vietnam. Group Curriculum Coordinator — Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)
As MFL Group Curriculum Coordinator, you will lead the strategic development, implementation and quality assurance of MFL provision across VAS campuses. You will work collaboratively with school leaders, MFL teachers and external partners to ensure our curriculum is coherent, culturally responsive and aligned with both the Cambridge International curriculum expectations. The successful candidate will be an experienced language educator with strong curriculum design skills, excellent interpersonal abilities and a clear commitment to raising standards and supporting professional growth.
Role Overview and Purpose
Strategic leadership – Provide vision and direction for MFL across the group, developing a long-term curriculum plan that promotes high-quality language learning for all students.
Curriculum development – Design, review and refine curriculum frameworks, scope-and-sequence documents, progression maps and assessment policies for Vietnamese and additional language pathways where applicable.
Management of external providers - Manage, monitor, and coordinate with external MFL providers (local to Ho Chi Minh City) to facilitate the delivery of lessons across all campuses.
Quality assurance – Monitor teaching and learning standards through lesson visits, work sampling and data analysis; produce termly reports with actionable recommendations.
Teacher development – Lead continuing professional development (CPD) for MFL staff, mentor early career teachers and foster effective collaborative practice across campuses.
Resource management – Oversee selection and adaptation of high-quality resources, ensuring alignment with curriculum goals and efficient use of budgeted resources.
Assessment and reporting – Develop formative and summative assessment strategies, moderation processes and guidance for reporting student progress to parents and stakeholders.
Stakeholder engagement – Build productive relationships with campus leaders, parents and cultural partners to enhance language learning opportunities and community involvement.
Promotion of bilingual excellence – Champion inclusive practices that value linguistic and cultural diversity and support learners of differing proficiency, including heritage Vietnamese speakers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the creation, implementation and continuous review of MFL curriculum documentation across primary and secondary phases, ensuring coherent progression and clear learning outcomes.
Provide regular curriculum briefings and training for MFL teachers, including modelling lessons and co-planning where required.
Coordinate cross-campus moderation and standardisation activities to ensure consistency of assessment and reporting.
Design and implement assessment tasks and tracking systems to measure student progress and inform teaching interventions.
Support recruitment, induction and performance appraisal processes for MFL staff, contributing to a high-performing team culture.
Advise senior leadership on curriculum priorities, resource needs and professional development plans related to MFL provision.
Promote extra-curricular language and cultural activities, overseeing language weeks, exchanges and enrichment initiatives as required.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international language pedagogy, assessment developments and relevant national policy.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Proven curriculum leadership: Experience in leading curriculum design and implementation, preferably across multiple sites or within an international/bilingual school context.
Language expertise: Qualified language teacher with strong subject knowledge. Experience teaching English or Vietnamese and at least one other modern foreign language (French, Mandarin, or Japanese) is desirable.
Teaching experience: A record of successful classroom practice and demonstrable impact on pupil outcomes at primary and/or secondary levels.
Assessment and data literacy: Skilled in designing assessments, analysing outcomes and using data to drive improvement.
Staff development: Experience delivering CPD, mentoring colleagues and fostering collaborative professional learning communities.
Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent written and oral communication, able to engage effectively with teachers, leaders, parents and external partners.
Cultural sensitivity: Respect for diverse backgrounds and the ability to work respectfully within the Vietnamese educational and cultural context.
Project management: Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple initiatives and deliver to agreed timelines.
Essential Criteria
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Applied Linguistics, Modern Languages or a closely related field.
Recognised teaching qualification and a minimum of three years’ recent classroom teaching experience in MFL.
Demonstrable experience in curriculum design, assessment and teacher professional development.
Fluent English; strong spoken and written Vietnamese effective engagement with Vietnamese parents and local partners.
