2021 Summer Camp Programme Counsellors (Art, Drama, Sports, Cooking, STEAM, and more)

VAS is looking for talented and inspiring programme Counsellors who would like to join our 202 Summer Programme. Positions are open to both expatriate and Vietnamese candidates.

Your chance to spend next summer living and working our amazing summer programme in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.  Every summer we host one of the biggest programmes in South East Asia. We welcome teachers from across the globe to join us and create a truly memorable and cultural experience for our students.

The Summer Programme starts on the 7th of June and goes on for either 6 or 7 weeks, depending on the position you are hired for

We are looking for the following positions

  1. Kindergarten Counsellor - 7 weeks
  2. Grade 1 Counsellor - 6 weeks
  3. Art Counsellor - 6 weeks
  4. STEAM Counsellor - 6 weeks 
  5. Swim and Water Sports Counsellor - 6 weeks
  6. Sports Counsellor - 6 weeks
  7. Home Economics Counsellor - 6 weeks
  8. Cooking Counsellor - 6 weeks
  9. Drama Counsellor - 6 weeks
  10. Magic Counsellor - 6 weeks
  11. Dance Counsellor - 6 weeks

Job responsibilities and expectations 

  • Ability to teach one or more of the summer camp activity areas to a high standard.
  • Carry out the summer camp activities planned by the Specialists and Content Developers
  • Follow the scheme of work provided by the summer specialists, ensuring all objectives are met.
  • Take responsibility for the behaviour, health, well-being and happiness of campers
  • Pre – Plan lessons, adapt and give feedback about the activities
  • Organise the department area so it supports the learning environment, keeping the area safe and tidy.
  • Report to the site director and specialists
  • Get to know your campers and actively engage with them
  • Recognize and respond to opportunities for group problem solving
  • Set a good example for campers in all areas, including cleanliness, punctuality, sportsmanship, and respect for each other as well as personal and school property
  • Observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures and apply appropriate behavior management techniques
  • Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and meet/communicate regularly with Site Director regarding concerns, updates, challenges
  • Assist in maintaining accurate programme records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance
  • Other duties as assigned by the Site Director from time to time

Qualifications & Experience:

  • University degree holder (English degree required for Vietnamese candidates)
  • CELTA/TESOL or TEFL certificate required for expatriate teachers
  • Sound expertise and skills in the area of specialization – including curriculum design and teacher training.
  • Good leadership skills
  • Demonstrated experience in working with children
  • Ability to teach and lead various recreational activities
